Dr Angelique Luabeya trained as a medical doctor at the University of Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She completed her master’s degree in Epidemiology at the University of London. She worked as research physician for paediatric HIV clinical trials at the Africa centre for Health and Populations studies. She is a WHO-TDR Clinical research and development fellow.

Currently she is the Chief research officer at the South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative, University of Cape Town. Dr Luabeya is the principal investigator of several TB vaccines clinical trials and diagnostics studies. She is SATVI Principal investigator for 2 COVID 19 vaccines trials. She has several publications in international peer reviewed journals.
